Are you thinking about adding a new puppy to your family?
If the answer is "yes" then it's very important to make sure that you
choose the right breed of dog for your family, and that you choose the
right breeder.
Pet stores are NOT the place to purchase a quality puppy. No matter how
cute that "puppy in the window" may be, chances are he or she comes with a
lot of additional expense and heartache. Pet stores get their puppies from
puppy brokers. Puppy brokers buy puppies from commercial dog breeders
(better known as puppy mills).
Puppy mill puppies often have congenital health problems
(usually due to inbreeding), behavioral problems (due to lack of
socialization), and are not correct examples of their breed (due to
indiscriminate breeding). They come at a high price - both the price
charged by the pet store, and the money and heartache that goes into
caring for a sick puppy.
Commercial dog breeders would be better named "dog farmers" , many of whom
keep hundreds of dogs (which they call "breeding stock") in small, cramped
and usually filthy cages - and breed them at every cycle to produce as
many puppies as possible for the least amount of money possible. These
poor dogs get no love, and have no life. They are prisoners of greed!

If you love dogs and care about the way they are treated in our society,
don't "buy into" the "dog industry". When you buy a puppy from a pet
store, you're putting money into the hands of puppy brokers and puppy
mills, and giving them the incentive to keep doing what they do -
exploiting and abusing Man's Best Friend.
