Doberman Pinschers

About Doberman Pinscher Dogs and Puppies

In an effort to create the perfect working dog, it is thought that German breeder Louis Dobermann combined the best qualities of German Pinschers, Rottweilers, Manchester Terriers and Greyhounds. First accepted for registration by the German Kennel Club in 1900, this popular breed was imported to North America in 1908.

Doberman Pinschers have since become internationally renowned as security dogs. Dobermans do extremely well in obedience work. These intelligent, loyal, affectionate dogs make wonderful family pets.

Of medium build and height, the Dobes’ sleek, short coat comes in black, red, blue or fawn, all with rust markings. Grooming requirements are minimal (ears are often cropped, but may also be left natural). Doberman Pinschers require plenty of exercise to keep their sleek appearance. They do well in either rural or urban settings, provided that regular walks are offered. With Doberman Pinschers, early and consistent obedience training is essential.
