If your family is looking for an
active, lively, loyal family pet, then the Airedale Terrier may be
right for you! Knowing and researching the characteristics of this
wonderful breed will help you in determining if the Airedale Terrier
is right for your home. |
Airedale Terriers need early and persistent
obedience training to prevent stubbornness, willfulness and
disobedience later in life. Airedale Terriers are not difficult to
train, but may become unresponsive to harsh, overbearing training
methods. Airedales are extremely intelligent and become bored with
routine training, so attempt to create variety in training exercises.
Airedale Terriers were bred for activity and lively
work, so they need proper exercise and plenty of outlets to release
their energy. This can include running, fetching, playing with a ball,
swimming and other athletic tasks. If this breed does not receive
enough attention or opportunity to exercise, they may become restless
and bored and get itself into trouble by creating their own “outlet of
energy”. Because of this, Airedale Terriers are not recommended for
apartment life due to their active nature indoors as well as outdoors,
and would do best with an average to large-sized yard.
