Depending on the coat type and breed, you’ll need a few things to keep your kitty looking good. A slicker brush works well on all coat types, so you will want to pick one up. If you have a long haired breed, you may also need a de-matting comb.

An essential item is cat nail trimmers. These are a must to keep your kitten’s claws nice and short. When it comes to this, I find that simpler is better. Look for a set that feels comfortable in your hand and is easy to control.

What about those automated cat nail filing doodads? I’ve yet to find a cat or kitten patient enough to sit still while their nails are filed. Better to just quickly and efficiently get those nails trimmed, and let your cat get on with business.
